911 millones de euros de Garantía del Estado para 76 obras

El Museo del Prado expone a partir del próximo 22 de junio y hasta el 19 de septiembre “Turner y los Maestros” tras su paso por la Tate Britain de Londres y el Grand Palais de París. La exposición que se presenta en el Museo del Prado cuenta con un total de 80 obras procedentes de instituciones y colecciones europeas y norteamericanas, algunas de las cuales no se han mostrado en Londres ni en París como son Sombra y oscuridad. La víspera del Diluvio, Luz y color. La mañana después del Diluvio y Paz. Entierro en el mar,  obras maestras que Turner realizó al final de su carrera.

De las ochenta obras que se presentan setenta y seis están cubiertas por  la Garantía del Estado por un valor  total que asciende a 910.951.135,25 euros

Turner y los Maestros pretende dar a conocer los vínculos del artista con otros pintores muy destacados como Rembrandt, Rubens o Claudio de Lorena, entre otros, y el modo profundamente original en que asimiló su influencia desde el período inicial de su carrera a sus últimas composiciones.

La exposición cuenta con el patrocinio de la Fundación AXA y con la colaboración de la Comunidad de Madrid. “Turner y los maestros” es la mayor y más importante exposición que se le dedica al gran paisajista británico en España además de ser la primera vez que se enfrenta a Turner con los maestros que más le influyeron y con los coetáneos con los que compitió. La presentación de esta gran exposición corre a cargo de Gabriele Finaldi, Director Adjunto de Conservación del Museo del Prado,  María Teresa Ortiz Bau, Directora de la Fundación AXA, Concepción Guerra, Viceconsejera de Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid,  David Solkin, Comisario de la exposición en la Tate Britain y Director Adjunto de The Courtauld Institute of Art, y con el también Comisario de la exposición Javier Barón,  Jefe de Departamento de Pintura del Siglo XIX del Museo del Prado
